Jurupa Valley Cityhood Election-LAFCO

CBS - Eye on the Community

George Spiliotis, Executive Officer of Riverside County’s Local Agency Formation Commission, explained the process that unincorporated communities must go through before they are allowed to hold an election so residents can decide whether to become a city or not. He also described the report that was compiled showing that Jurupa Valley would be financially viable if residents to vote to incorporate on March 8th. He said the new city would receive about $27-million dollars in existing taxes and fees that currently go to the state. He also explained that the new city of Eastvale could try to annex some of Jurupa Valley if voters defeat a measure to incorporate on March 8th.
