The Frogmen’s Stupid News: Dog Drivers And A Fish Powered Christmas Tree

An animal group is proving just how smart animals are and an aquarium is putting the electric eels to work powering their Christmas tree.

The New Zealand Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is demonstrating just how smart animal are by teaching dogs to drive. In their experiment they took 3 dogs, a Schnauzer, a Whippet, and a mixed stray, and taught each dog to steer, accelerate, and stop a specially designed car. The process took several months and the final results were shown on live TV.

The Living Plant Aquarium in Utah is using an electric eel to power the lights on a Christmas tree. The tree is displayed in its “Journey To South America” gallery. The manager of Cache Valley Electric was the manger on the project and explained that the electricity generated by the eel in a nearby tank causes the 4 strands of lights to flash intermittently. Aquarium officials say that electric eels can discharge electrocytes to create a 600 volt electric charge which is equal to 5 times the power of a standard U.S. wall socket.
