While we’re all enjoying loads of mashed potatoes, gravy, turkey and all the trimmings this Thanksgiving, it’s easy to throw the family dog a scrap here and there.  But the Humane Society of the United States warns pet owners that we won’t be doing our animals any favors if we’re not careful.

Before you throw Fido the turkey wishbone (which is dangerous and not advised by the way), we’ve compiled the Top 10 Foods you should avoid giving your pets at Thanksgiving or ANY time of year.

Top 10 Foods To Never Give Your Pets:

1)  Chocolate

2)  Poultry bones (includes:  chicken and turkey bones)

3)  Grapes

4)  Alcohol of any kind

5)  Onions

6)  Raisins

7)  Yeast doughs

8)  Seeds/Pits:  apple seeds, peach and apricot pits, avocado pit, or cherry pits

9)  Gum

10) Coffee grounds or tea leaves

We all love our animals, so let’s make a mental note never to let relatives, kids, friends or neighbors feed our pets any of the above items over the holidays.  Stick to pet-friendly foods made available at the pet stores, your local Vet, or your local grocer in the pet aisles.

Happy Thanksgiving friends!
