Riverside calls itself the “City of Arts and Innovation,” and there are several local non-profit performing arts organizations that celebrate the season with their annual holiday productions. Here are three of them:

Riverside Community Players‘ “A Christmas Carol.” Who doesn’t love Charles Dickens’ holiday classic about the transformation of miserly Ebenezer Scrooge, brought to life in theatre-in-the-round? December 9th-18th at Riverside Community Players.

Riverside Lyric Opera’s “Amahl and the Night Visitors.” This one-act opera with music by Gian Carlo Menotti puts a twist on the journey of the Three Wise Men to visit the Christ Child….which includes a miracle for one very special little boy. Sunday, December 4th at the Box in the Fox Performing Arts Center.

(BONUS: Following the performance, go see the Festival of Lights at the Mission Inn! Just a short walk away.)

BRAVA (Ballet Resource and Volunteer Association)’s “Nutcracker.” Featuring guest artists from the National Ballet of Canada and Boston Ballet, and choreography from world-renowned artist David Allan. December 17th & 18th at 1pm and 7pm at Riverside Community College’s Landis Auditorium.

Hopefully, you’ll make one or all of these performances part of your family’s holiday traditions!
