It’s Throwback Thursday and that means you get to hear great songs from the 80’s, 90’s and the early 2000’s that you don’t get to hear everyday on K-FROG.

I get tons of requests during the All Request Drive Thru Lunch. Sometimes there are some really awesome song requests that I just don’t have time to play. That’s why I’ve decided to do the Throwback Thursday Lunchtime Leftover.

Richell Rene “Chely” Wright was born October 25, 1970. Chely Wright has had a few country hits and has won numerous country music awards. “I Was” wasn’t a big hit for her, but I think it should’ve been.

Not only is Chely a talented country singer she is also a gay rights activist. She became one of the first major country music performers to publicly come out as lesbian. Chely Wright has stated publicly that her reasons for publicizing her homosexuality was over a concern with bullying and hate crimes toward gays, particularly gay teenagers, and the damage to her life caused by “lying and hiding.”

Chely Wright can rejoice, she has officially announced that her 8th album “I Am The Rain” will be released in September of 2016.
