A new study released by the Public Health journal suggests that eating sandwiches may be ruining your diet.

Researchers from the University of Illinois have studied data from over 27,000 adults who eat sandwiches.

Sandwich consumption showed an increase in sugar, saturated fat, and sodium; while also showing a decrease in vegetables, fruit, and fiber.

The determination was that people who eat sandwiches generally consume more calories, fat, and sodium than normal.

The study suggests that “consumers should prudently evaluate the calorie/nutrient content of sandwich in order to make healthier dietary choices.”
