We still don’t know the reasoning behind the separation of Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert, but what we do know is Blake is opening up about it now more than ever.

In a recent interview with Billboard, Shelton was asked about his new single, “She’s Got A Way With Words,” and if the song was written about a lying and cheating ex, referring to Lambert.

“When we recorded the vocals for some of these songs, I was only six months removed from when all the crap went down,” Shelton explained. “When you have a broken heart – at least, when I do – you got to get it out of your system. You want people to sympathize with you. I was at rock bottom, in the middle of hell.”

Once considered the king and queen of country music, Shelton and Lambert filed for divorce last July after only 4 years of marriage.

Shelton credits the end of the marriage to having the most impact on his new album, If I’m Honest.

“You can learn some facts of my divorce,” Shelton spoke. “Maybe not specifics, but you can get a general idea about it.”
