Thinking of taking the family to Silverwood Lake for a nice day of swimming & boating? Better make different plans.

According to the San Bernardino Sun, state officials have issued a no swimming advisory for Silverwood Lake due to a toxic blue-green algae bloom.

The California Department of Water Resources said in a statement this week that because of the bloom they are urging swimmers, boaters and other recreational users of the lake, to avoid contact with the water and to keep their pets away as well.

There’s a wide range of negative health effects the toxins can cause, including, diarrhea, skin rashes and headaches.
