As of Wednesday, August 10th at 12:00 Noon the Pilot Fire burning in the San Bernardino mountains near Hesperia had burned about 7,860 acres and was 64% contained.
Since police and firefighters are bravely and busily trying to keep our High Desert communities safe, there’s one restaurant that wants to help and make sure they have don’t have to fight the Pilot Fire on empty stomachs.
According to the San Bernardino Sun, Kaitlyn Cole, manager of the Chipotle restaurant on Mariposa Road in Hesperia said, “We started yesterday afternoon (Monday), basically just opening up to firefighters, police personnel working the fire,” “Basically, anyone with a uniform is fighting it.”
As of yesterday about 50 firefighters and police officers had stopped the Hesperia Chipotle location just off the 15 freeway a free meal. On Monday the local Hesperia chain of the restaurant sent 300 burritos to the frontlines for the firefighters battling the blaze.
Store manager Kaitlyn Cole said, “As long as they come in, the food will definitely be on us.”
