Yesterday a man in downtown Ventura stole crucifixes from a gift shop and then started using them as weapons, leaving several folks injured even sending an elderly gentleman to the hospital.

Multiple 911 calls came Thursday, reporting an out of control person spotted committing burglaries, attempting to rob people on the street and then battering them with the crucifixes, according to Ventura Police.

At some point during his rampage Brantley struck and broke the window of a 75-year-old man’s car and struck him, causing him injuries to his face.

When Ventura police arrived they arrested Thirty-five-year-old Forrest Brantley and booked him into the Ventura County jail on suspicion of multiple charges including three counts of attempted robbery, one count of assault with a deadly weapon, and one count of elder abuse.
