Blake Shelton certainly knows how to keep his fans on their toes. His last single was the sharp-edged and divisive song about splitsville, “She’s Got A Way With Words.” This time around, he delivers a song to radio that extols the virtues of amour, “A Guy With A Girl.” The song is really about a man who has landed a lady that–from the sound of things–is out of his league. And he likes it! One might interpret this as a less-than-subtle homage to the new love of his life, Gwen Stefani. Not so fast, because Blake didn’t actually write the song. The words and music were crafted by two of Nashville’s biggest writers, Ashley Gorley and Bryan Simpson. Was it just fortuitous timing or did Blake just like the song? Either way, “A Guy With A Girl” will strike a chord with fans from every walk of life. This one sounds like a sure thing for Blake’s next #1 song!
