The hamburger giant McDonald’s says that due to reports of all those creepy clowns on the rise, Ronald McDonald is keeping a low profile.

CBS Los Angeles reports McDonald’s Corp. said that because of the “current climate around clown sightings in communities,” they are going to be “thoughtful in respect to Ronald McDonald’s participation in community events.”

McDonald’s didn’t provide any other details like how often or where exactly its beloved red-headed clown mascot makes appearances. They also didn’t clarify how exactly that will change.

If you haven’t heard, there have been sightings of clown pranks happening all around the country and even the Inland Empire in the last week.

Reports have prompted police to respond in some areas. The numerous creepy sightings have helped in the burger giant’s decision.
