Murrieta police say they arrested five Hemet residents after a couple of Murrieta alcohol thefts turned into violent robberies.
At about 4:37 p.m. last Friday, October 28th the first holdup was reported at the Super Target at 27818 Clinton Keith Road, Murrieta.
In a written statement police said that crime then materialized into a robbery when a store loss-prevention worker was hit in the face by one of the thieves.
The Press Enterprise reports that somewhere around 20 minutes later there was a similar crime reported at the Albertson’s at 28047 Scott Road, Murrieta. The assaulted victim during this crime was a bystander who tried to stop the thieves.
Sheriff’s deputies spotted the suspects vehicle along the 215 after a passer-by spotted the described vehicle and license plate number. It was in a parking lot in the 1700 block of Trumble Road in Perris where the suspects stopped their vehicle and ran.
Police say a total of five suspects were arrested and booked for investigation of conspiracy and assault-related crimes. The five include a 17-year-old whose name has not been released, 19-year-old Richard Ingram, 20-year-old Desean Swan, 21-year-old Jordan Talley and 24-year-old Darnell Swan.
