This year marks the 125th Anniversary of the ballet “The Nutcracker,” and several local companies are presenting their versions of the holiday tradition to audiences in the Inland Empire.

Victoria Koenig, Artistic Director and Founder of Inland Pacific Ballet, is particularly excited about this year’s performances. “What makes Inland Pacific Ballet’s Nutcracker so special is the wonderful young talent and new choreography with a unique perspective and delightful new ways to enhance the show, creating more surprises than ever before. We can’t wait for our audiences to experience all the fun new elements in the show this year!”

For Glenda Carhart, Director of BRAVA (Ballet Resource Active Volunteer Association), it’s the group dynamic that creates the appeal of the annual performance, whether it’s the guest artists who return year after year to dance in the ballet, or the children, both in the cast and in the audience. “The magic is watching the kids in the [theatre]; the magic is watching the face on a young dancer watching the big stars come in,” she says.

If you want to make “The Nutcracker” part of your holiday celebration this year, here are some of the best companies in the area presenting the classical ballet:
