Tomorrow, December 2nd is the one year anniversary of the San Bernardino terror attack. A day that shocked and shook the Inland Empire and the rest of the nation.

Federal investigators have now said that a training session and mandatory attendance at a county Christmas party at the IRC in San Bernardino last year may have triggered the terror attack that left 14 people dead.

CBS Los Angeles reports San Bernardino Police Chief Jarrod Burguan said in a TV interview broadcast Wednesday night, that Tashfeen Malik, who was the Pakistani wife of shooter Syed Farook, stated in some emails that she didn’t believe that a Muslim should have to participate in a non-Muslim event or tradition.

A year ago at the Inland Regional Center (IRC) Syed Farook was attending the mandatory training session for county employees, before he left to return later dressed in black and heavily armed with weapons along with his wife Tashfeen Malik.

Brian Levin of Cal State San Bernardino, who is terrorism expert, told radio station KNX 1070AM, “At least Farook had violent tendencies years before, but maybe this was the thing that deviated the attack to another place.”

According to investigators, it seems the husband and wife duo never did strayed far from the IRC.  They reportedly circled the scene and sometimes even went right past police barricades. Investigators believe they may have been trying to set off pipe bombs.

After they were killed in a gun battle with police the remote detonator was found in their SUV.
