LifeStream Blood Bank Appeals To Donors During Nationwide Shortage

There is a nationwide shortage of donated blood and LifeStream, your community blood bank, is making an appeal to residents to set aside as little as one hour to make a potentially lifesaving blood donation.

It doesn’t matter what type of blood you have all blood types and all types of blood donations are needed, including whole blood or automated donations known as apheresis.

In press release Dr. Joe Chaffin, LifeStream’s chief medical officer said, “Community blood donors make a huge difference in the lives of patients in desperate need.”  “There is simply no replacement for the lifesaving gift of blood, and I urge every healthy person in this community to strongly consider donating blood.”

Blood is needed for surgeries, to treat cancer patients, to assist accident, trauma and burn victims; for women giving birth; or prematurely born babies and only voluntary donors can assist in these cases.

Appointments to donate blood are suggested and may be made by calling 800-879-4484 or visiting, however ,walk-ins are welcome at all LifeStream donor centers and convenient mobile drives.

Keep in mind that appointments are definitely required for making apheresis donations (platelets, plasma or double red cell) at LifeStream donor centers.
