Corona 91 Project: Expect Possible Weekend Closure Of Sixth Street

Road work continues in Corona. Expect a possible weekend Closure of Sixth Street from Paseo Grande to Via Bernardo starting this Friday.

In order to allow crews to repave this area, the Riverside County Transportation Commission’s 91 Project in Corona will require they close a part of Sixth Street between Paseo Grande and Via Bernardo.

Weather permitting, the closure will begin from Friday, January 13 at 9 pm and last until Monday, January 16 at 4 a.m. In case of rain the work will be postponed to the next weekend.

There wont be any access through the intersection, however access to businesses on Sixth Street between Paseo Grande and Via Bernardo will be provided. You can head north on Paseo Grande and will be able to turn left on Sixth Street. If you’re traveling east on Sixth Street you must turn right and head south on Paseo Grande.

If you’re interested and need one there is a detour available, you can use Pomona Road to the north of the 91 to travel between Serfas Club Drive/Auto Center Drive and Smith Street.

The RCTC recommends motorists allow themselves extra travel time, follow posted detour signs and encourages you to share this information with friends and colleagues. You can always check real-time traffic information using IE511.org.

If you want to gather more information, visit sr91project.info, call the helpline at 877-770-9191, or even email sr91project@rctc.org.

The 91 Project is approximately 91 percent complete, and the road work is adding regular lanes, tolled express lanes, auxiliary lanes and direct express connectors from the northbound 15 to the westbound 91 and from the eastbound 91 to the southbound 15.  Reportedly the new lanes are on schedule and should open this spring.

There are improvements being made to interchanges, ramps, lanes and surface streets along the 91 between the Riverside County/Orange County Line in Corona and Pierce Street in Riverside.
