Our fingers are all crossed.

March 14th is the big day when Irvine City Council will vote on the construction of a new amphitheater, after Irvine Meadows was torn down back in October.

OC Weekly reports that Live Nation and FivePoint, the two companies that are joining forces to make this happen, are proposing a 12,000-seat outdoor music amphitheater to be built just in time for the 2017 summer season.

Steve Churm, chief communications officer for FivePoint, says it’s very important to get an amphitheater back in Orange Country for music lovers and for the city.

“Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre was a cherished institution and a highly popular destination for music fans from across Southern California,” Churm said. “It put Irvine on the entertainment map and provided an important venue for all genres of music and multiple generations of fans. We want to continue that tradition and bridge the gap between Irvine Meadows and a permanent facility on the city’s Cultural Terrace in the Orange County Great Park.”

Let’s hope it happens!
