Stagecoach Behind The Artist – Randy Houser

Stagecoach is on the way! One of the many talented people performing this year at the Stagecoach Country Music Festival at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, on Friday, April 28th will be Randy Houser.

He just goes by Randy, but was born Shawn Randolph “Randy” Houser, on December 18, 1975 in Lake, Mississippi. Randy Houser’s dad was a professional musician who performed at various local venues in Mississippi.

In keeping with his dad’s footsteps, he taught himself how to play the guitar, and by the age of ten he even fronted his own band. When Randy Houser was in Decatur, Mississippi attending East Central Community College, he formed another band named 10 lb. Biscuit.

Around 2002, Randy Houser made the move to Nashville, Tennessee to start his songwriting career. The fun Trace Adkins Top 5 hit “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk” was one of Randy’s first big hits as a songwriter. He co-wrote the song with Jamey Johnson and Dallas Davidson. Randy also helped write Justin Moore’s song “Back that Thing Up.”.

It was soon after the success of that song that Randy made a decision to focus on performing more than songwriting, and that’s when he started playing at local gigs in Nashville. For a brief moment Randy Houser was signed to MCA Nashville, however he didn’t release any solo music through them.

In 2008, Randy was signed to Universal South Records and charted the top 20 on the Billboard country singles chart with the song”Anything Goes.” That song was the title track to his debut album. An album which also featured his first Top 5 hit, “Boots On.”

It was in 2012 that Randy Houser moved to Broken Bow Records imprint Stoney Creek. There is where he got his first Number One hit with the song “How Country Feels,” the title track to his third album. In 2013, he also big success with his song “Runnin’ Outta Moonlight.”

There were follow up singles for Randy Houser from that same album, including another Number One Mediabase Country Chart song “Goodnight Kiss.” In March of 2015 his song”Like a Cowboy,” got as high as number 3 on the Country Airplay chart and also it received a nomination in 2015 as the Country Music Association Awards Song of the Year.

Randy Houser is an awesome live performer and you wont want to miss him while he’s at Stagecoach.
