Stagecoach Behind the Artist – The Cadillac Three

Jaren Johnston, Kelby Ray, and Neil Mason were originally known as “The Cadillac Black”…..until a cease and desist from a similarly-named band put a stop to that, and thus they became known as The Cadillac Three.

But before that, the three songwriters had already made a name for themselves, with Jaren writing songs like “You Gonna Fly” for Keith Urban, “Southern Girl” for Tim McGraw, and along with Neil, “Days of Gold” for Jake Owen (their debut, self-titled album includes the songwriters’ version of the song).

Other songs that Jaren has had a hand in writing include Jake Owen’s “Beachin,'” and “American Country Love Song,” Frankie Ballard‘s “Cigarette,” “Sunshine and Whiskey,” and “It All Started with a Beer,” Billy Currington‘s “Don’t It,” Drake White‘s “Livin’ the Dream,” Tim McGraw’s “Meanwhile Back at Mama’s,” and Keith Urban and Eric Church‘s “Raise ‘Em Up.”

The debut single from these Southern rockers, “The South,” featured guest vocals from Florida Georgia Line, Dierks Bentley, and Mike Eli of the Eli Young Band, earning them a 2015 ACM nomination for Vocal Event of the Year.

In addition to The South, their sophomore album Bury Me In Boots also included the singles “Party Like You,” “White Lightning,” and “Drunk Like You.”

The Cadillac Three will return to Stagecoach this year, having previously performed at the festival in 2015.
