On Tuesday formal charges were made against an Uber driver who was accused of raping a female passenger last month in Orange County.
36 year-old, Angel Sanchez, of Costa Mesa, was identified as the suspect.
CBS Los Angeles reports that according to authorities, on the evening of March 30th, the driver picked up the woman at a company gathering in Newport Beach and drove her toward her Santa Ana home.
The driver is accused of committing sexual assault against the woman after he picked her up in his gray 2017 Toyota Sienna.
Officials said he reportedly sexually assaulted the woman after drove her near to her residence.
The woman, who was under the influence of alcohol, was able to get away and call 911.
Angel Sanchez was arrested on April 1st.
If he is convicted, he’ll face a maximum sentence of eight years in California state prison.
Arraignment is scheduled for Monday at the Central Justice Center in Santa Ana.
