In 2001, Riverside Police Officer, Detective Doug Jacobs, was shot and killed while responding to a noise complaint in Riverside.

Jacobs was just 30 years old and the father of a 6-month old baby girl, Rachel.

Fast forward 16 years to 2017, when Rachel was to attend her high school prom.

She and her date were met by RPD Officers in mass on Saturday, for a very special prom send-off.

Rachel and her date, were surrounded by the love of the Officers who worked with her father, as well as a police processional of cars and motorbikes to the prom venue.

The night was captured by the Riverside Police Departments’ Aerial Support Division, “Air 1”, who did a flyover of Rachel’s special moment.

We’re sure her father would be so proud of her, as well as his fellow brothers and sisters with RPD.

Being a Riverside resident, I know that Detective Jacobs is deeply missed by his community. This was such a wonderful show of support from our outstanding men and women of the RPD.

Here are the beautiful photos courtesy of Air 1’s twitter page at @RPDAir1.
