An accident on the southbound 5 in Newhall Pass Tuesday left a motorcycle officer trapped underneath an SUV.
According to the California Highway patrol, at around 5:18 a.m. the crash was first reported at Lyons Avenue on the southbound lanes of the 5 freeway.
CBS Los Angeles reports that multiple crews dispatched to the scent to help extricate the male officer from underneath the vehicle. After being taken to the hospital, his condition was reported as serious, but stable.
Authorities say the officer works for the Los Angeles Police Department, in the Central Traffic Division. Officials from LAPD say the officer was on his way to work.
