Album releases become available for download Fridays at midnight East Coast Time. Since that’s 9pm Thursday night West Coast Time, every Thursday night, Pepper picks her three favorite songs from the new country albums and plays them on K-Frog for New at Nine! Here are her picks for this week.
After taking a hiatus to focus on becoming parents and working on solo projects, Charles Kelley, Hillary Scott, and Dave Haywood are ready to bring Lady Antebellum back into the scene with their brand new album Heart Break, one in which every song was written by at least one of the members of the band.
“We were just thinking about how to get back to that spot, you know how we wrote and started for the first two records,” recalls Charles in a statement from their label, about the writing process. “It’s ‘cause we didn’t have any responsibilities. You could write a hundred songs a year, and we haven’t been able to do that since then.
“So, Dave had the idea, he goes, ‘Let’s just get out of Nashville, man,’ Charles continues. “We went down to Florida early in the fall and took a bunch of writers with us, and then we had this idea to move out to L.A., and we rented a house out there for like a month and found like another house with a home studio and called up our buddy busbee, and the songs just kinda poured out like really fast.”
Here are the three songs from Heart Break that I played for New at Nine tonight:
- Heart Break
- You Look Good
- This City
Look for Lady A performing on NBC’s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Tuesday, June 13th!
