Payless ShoeSource has announced it will be closing its western distribution center located in Redlands this fall.

The Press Enterprise reports Meghan Spreer, a Payless spokesperson said the closure of the Redlands facility is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to manage its real estate profile.

Payless notified employees of the closure this week, and according to a letter given to the center’s employees, the closure is scheduled to happen on or around Sept. 30th.

Payless operates two distribution centers, the Redlands location and the company’s eastern distribution center which is in Brookville, Ohio.

The company plans to keep the Ohio location open, according to Spreer, “as we were able to reach an agreement with our landlord that will enable us to operate our business efficiently and effectively.”

A 60-day notice was given to employees at the Redlands center.
