Want to know the best and worst alcoholic drinks to consume if you are watching your waistline?

Thanks to the Huffington Post for ruining this weekends’ party plans with a list of 13 drinks and their caloric count.

Actually, I jest. This is a great list of what types of drinks you should and shouldn’t consume if you’re worried about your caloric intake.

So as you run to BevMo this weekend, these drinks have the most calories:

Highest to Lowest:

#13:  Beer/Pale Ale – 175 calories per 12 oz. can

#12:  Beer/Lager – 170 calories for 12 ounces

#11:  Red Wine – 160 calories for 5 ounces (this number can vary based on blend)

#10:  White Wine – shoot me!  160 calories for 5 ounces (again, wine blends can vary)

#9:  Hard Ciders – 150 calories for 12 ounces

#8:  Tequila – 104 calories for 1.5 ounces (but if you add lime it’s healthy right?)

#7:  Whiskey – 104 calories per 1.5 oz serving

#6:  Vodka – 101 calories for a 1.5 ounce shot

#5:  Rose’ – 100 calories for 5 oz.  (but who really drinks only 5 oz of this?)

#4:  Champagne – 100 calories for about 3.5 oz.

#3:  Gin – Ew.  BUT, it’s light on the calories, coming in at 97 calories for 1.5 oz.

#2:  Light Beer – approximately 96 calories a can

And the #1 drink with the least amount of calories is…..

#1:  RUM – Just 96 calories for 1.5 oz.  (Kenny Chesney will be happy.)

Now, don’t forget to take into consideration any mixers you may include with the above hard alcohols.  It’s easy to add calories to mixed drinks with fruit juices or sodas.
