In the “Musical Insights” series, country artists share their thoughts on some of their most popular tunes.
Seven years ago today (July 24th), Luke Bryan hit the top of the charts with his song, “Rain Is a Good Thing,” the theme of which had been with Luke for a long time before he finally wrote it.
“The song came about from strictly an old saying that me and my co-writer [Dallas Davidson had] in college,” Luke reveals in a statement from his label. “We’d have something planned, and we’d get bummed out by the rain. We’d be like, ‘Well, rain makes corn, corn makes whiskey,” and we’d never even said the frisky line. We actually made that up in the writing session.”
