With his first two singles both going #1 on the charts, you may suspect that Brett Young can relax a little bit. But according to the “Sleep Without You” singer, that’s not the case at all.
“I remember after the first number one everybody went ‘Does that kind of take the pressure off now?’ What are you talking about? No!” Brett recalls in a statement from his label. “Now I’m terrified because my expectations have been set, and I’m worried that not every song will follow suit, and so it’s even worse after the second one doing it, in the best way.
I mean, the athlete in me now wants to win again next time and so it’s been really, really flattering and humbling that a song like this [“In Case You Didn’t Know”] is the one that has had this much success, because you know coming with a sappy ballad is always kind of risky, and so the fact that people have kind of connected to this one the way that they have and you know we have this kind of momentum going into the next single is very exciting.”
At the end of September, Brett will play Coastal Country Jam at Huntington State Beach, and if early feedback is any indication, Brett should have no problem sending “Like I Loved You” to the top of the charts as well.
