Thanks to Southwest Airlines and the Helen Woodward Animal Center in San Diego, California, over 80 displaced dogs and cats from crowded shelters in hurricane-stricken Houston will find their new forever homes.
“These are shelters that have been devastated by Hurricane Harvey, without electricity, without supplies,” said Mike Arms, the CEO of the Helen Woodward Animal Center, in a Facebook post. “They inhabited shelters before the storm and were facing euthanasia simply because they had no place to go.”
According to Huffington Post, dozens of animals were loaded into crates and boarded a Southwest Airlines-donated flight headed for California.
Many of these animals will be available for adoption through Helen Woodward Animal Center and profiles of the animals are online at http://www.animalcenter.org/adopt-a-pet.
