As Hurricane Irma wrought havoc on Florida last weekend, the Gainesville Police Department helped to lift people’s spirits with a simple Facebook post, People reports.

The Police Department posted a selfie of first responders starting their shift but they weren’t expecting the response they received.

The internet went wild and these “Hot Cops” had people swooning and threatening to call 911 in the hopes that they would come to their rescue.

The Gainesville Police Department took it all in stride and happily played along. “We are dying with the comments,” they replied. “You’ve actually made our chief blush with some of them.”

Then added, “On another note, Officer Rengering is being placed into Cougar Prey Protective Care, similar to the witness protection program for his safety.”

The department didn’t stop there. They continued to post more photos of first responders reporting to duty.

As the photos went viral, the department indicated they would be putting a calendar together to raise funds for Hurricane Irma relief.
