Jason Aldean returned to the stage for the first time since the deadly Las Vegas shooting at Route 91 Harvest Festival on October 1, where a gunman killed 58 people and injured over 500 during Aldean’s set.

“The one thing that’s going to help more than anything is playing for you guys tonight. Thank you for allowing us to be here tonight,” Aldean told the Tulsa, Oklahoma crowd (via fan footage.)

“Every day that goes by we think about the 58 people that lost their lives,” Aldean said. “We don’t even count that a—— who was doing the shooting,” he said.

“Even though people may not have physical scars, it’s gonna be a mental thing for a lot of people for a long time.”

Aldean was definitely affected by the shooting and he thanked the crowd for helping with his healing process. “You guys are gonna help us get through this.”

Lastly, Aldean had a powerful message to people who create hate and fear.

“What I want to say is that these people are going to continue to try and hold us down and continue to try and do things to us that are gonna make us live in fear and be scared, and not go out and do what we want to do, whether it’s going to a concert or a ball game or go to the mall or go to a movie. And to those people who keep trying to do that, I say f— you.”
