After Margaret Smith got the news that she would not be receiving a liver transplant that would hopefully save her life, she was comforted by her nurse, whose compassion went above and beyond the call of duty.

Olivia Neufelder, a nurse at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, sang the elderly cancer patient’s favorite song, held her hand, and sat with her as the anesthesia wore off.

“Words cannot describe the appreciation and love we feel for nurse Olivia who mom calls her angel! Your dedication to your patients is beyond any that I have seen, you truly are a beam of light and I cannot thank you enough for the compassion and care and love you shared for my mother. God bless you Olivia!,” Margaret’s daughter Megan wrote on her Facebook page.

“Miss Marg has touched my heart in such an indescribable way,” replied Olivia. “I am so humbled and honored to be a Nurse. My thoughts and prayers are forever with this amazing family.”
