Garth Brooks openly admitted that he lip synched on the CMA Award show and that didn’t sit well with another artist.
Garth Brooks performed “Ask Me How I Know” on the 51st Annual CMA Awards and immediately people noticed that he was lip synching his performance. Garth didn’t shy away from the critics, he openly admitted that his performance was lip synched, but he defended his decision.
“We’re in the middle of 12 shows in 10 days. Not 10 shows in 12 days, 12 shows in 10 days…We did a game-time call on whether to sing the track or lip-sync, and decided to lip-sync. The voice just isn’t there anymore, and you want to represent country music as best you can.”
The decision didn’t sit well with one artist. Miranda Lambert’s boyfriend, Anderson East, took to social media to express his disappointment.
Miranda weighed in on Anderson’s post saying, “High Five on this babe. If you can’t sing then don’t. It’s better to be honest than to pretend. I think it’s bull sh*t. My favorite performances in the show were live live. The truth.”
