In the “Musical Insights” series, country artists share their thoughts on some of their most popular tunes.
“Round Here Buzz” is one Eric Church co-wrote for his Mr. Misunderstood album, and he thinks the appeal of the song goes back to continuing with the themes of heartbreak and nostalgia that run through his work.
“‘Round Here Buzz,’ I mean, I’ve done a few of these songs in my career; this nostalgic kind of song about the guy that kind of wishes things were different than they are,” Eric muses in a statement from his label. “I know a lot of people like that and like this from where I’m from.
“I’m from a small town, and I’ve just seen this,” he continues. “I think part of the reason, I feel like we’re pretty good at this kind of song, and I think part of it is because I’ve seen it, I’ve felt it. It’s a motive to me. So, I think with this song, there’s just something about it that’s always spoke to me. It was one I was a pretty big champion for on the album and one that I think will be a hit for us, and the right kind of hit, not just one that’s a hit. One that has emotive qualities.”
