Retirement didn’t last long for Mike Fisher as it was announced Wednesday (Jan. 31) that he’ll be returning as an active member of the Nashville Predators.

Fisher, the husband of country music’s own Carrie Underwood, announced his retirement last June after the Stanley Cup finals.

The decision comes just one mother after Underwood needed more than 40 stitches in her face after suffering a fall at their home in Nashville.

Fisher will now return to the team at the halfway point of the NHL season to help the Preds make another run at the Stanley Cup.
