Carly Pearce opened K-Frog’s 28th Birthday Bash at Morongo Casino Resort and Spa with a set that was elegant and sassy, and playful and nostalgic, all at the same time.
Carly played nearly every song from her debut album Every Little Thing, including its first single (the title track), current single “Hide the Wine,” and fan favorite “If My Name Was Whiskey,” her rich voice easily filling Club Vibe, as the audience sang along.
She described “Honeysuckle” as being about her high school sweetheart, and that love that never seems to leave you.
Carly explained that at sixteen years old, she convinced her parents to let her complete high school on an independent study, and how because of it, the young singer-songwriter from Kentucky wound up with a job at Dollywood. “When you’re a teenager, you want to get as far away from your parents as you can,” she recalled. “And now, what would I give to sit at the kitchen table with my grandpa one more time. I wish I could tell sixteen-year-old Carly to just look around and appreciate what’s there.” By the time she started singing “Ride Home,” there was hardly a dry eye in the house.
Carly will return to Southern California to play Stagecoach in a couple months.
