Some accounts have Curling as a ratings boom for the Olympics.  I don’t know about that, but I sure know a lot of people who are watching and, yes getting excited about it.  I’ve seen Facebook posts extolling how hot Curling is. By now you might be asking, “What is Curling?”  Curling is a team Olympic sport in which stones are slid across a sheet of carefully prepared ice towards a target area. It is related to bowls, boule and shuffleboard.  more

When I’m not playing a frog on the radio one of the things I enjoy is volunteering with my local Kiwanis club. The Kiwanis Club of Rancho Cucamonga. We’re a global organization dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time.  We are proud of the work we do here in our area.  This weekend we’re having a fund raiser and I’d like to personally invite you to join us.  Download this flier and present it to your server and a portion of the proceeds go to fund local projects.

California and NASCAR go way back, to the sport’s beginnings. Early on, NASCAR founder Bill France Sr. recognized the popularity of motorsports in the Golden State, while envisioning the long-term potential of that popularity. Go back to the 1951 schedule for what is now known as the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, which had five races in California.more

I haven’t missed a race since the first 500 at the Auto Club Speedway in 1997.  One of the things I love to do is take pictures all over the track.  Here’s a few from the February race last year.  A little something to help get you in the mood for this weekends competition.

When choosing the best finish in Daytona 500 history, look no further than the race’s first year.
That’s because the whole thing transpired script-like. For the first Daytona 500 to end with a finish that took several days to sort out is hard to imagine, even 51 years after the fact.
But it’s also downright appropriate, because the fact that Daytona International Speedway even got built is hard to imagine, all these years later.more

Come join me at Banner Mattress on Ynez Rd. in the Vons/Target Shopping Center in Temecula.  I’ll be there from 11-1 today, Saturday, February 13th. Be one of the first to arrive and give me the secret code (be listening to the radio) and I’ll give you tickets to the star-studded movie “Valentine’s Day”.  It stars 25 of Hollywood’s biggest stars. Some restrictions apply. See you there!

Will Lindsey Vonn be able to overcome her shin injury in time to compete and at what level? She’s a huge metal favorite.  Shaun White, the young man dubbed “the Tomato” in the last Olympics has some huge new tricks planned to solidify is hopes for gold.  Can he pull off these tricks and can he accomplish the first perfect score of 50? He’s come close with a 49.50. more

The KingMost NASCAR fans, when asked to name the greatest driver in the sport’s history, likely would choose either Richard Petty or Dale Earnhardt, who each won seven NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championships in their career.
Petty himself always leaned toward David Pearson, when assigning best-ever status. Pearson, he said, was the best “pure” driver. Petty considered himself a better “racer.”
