James Bond has a few thoughts moving forward on, well, James Bond.

Pierce Brosnan, who played "007" four times, says it's time for a woman to take over the role.

In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter Brosnan said, "I think we've watched the guys do it for the last 40 years, get out of the way, guys, and put a woman up there. I think it would be exhilarating, it would be exciting."

The film production company in charge of the Bond series is run by Barbara Broccoli and her half-brother Michael G. Wilson and although the idea has Brosnan's stamp of approval, it doesn't look like this move will come any time soon with them in charge.

"I don't think that's going to happen with the Broccolis," Brosnan said. "I don't think that is going to happen under their watch."

The new Bond film, "No Time to Die," is slated to come out in April 2020 with Daniel Craig staring as James Bond for the final time.
