Los Angeles County sheriff Alex Villanueva challenged Los Angeles Lakers player LeBron James to match the reward being for information leading to the arrest of the gunman who ambushed and shot two L.A. deputies over the weekend. As of yesterday, both deputies are out of surgery and are expected to recover. The reward money is currently at $175,000.

"This challenge is to Lebron James. I want you to match that and double that reward," Villanueva said. "I know you care about law enforcement. You expressed a very interesting statement about your perspective on race relations and on officer-involved shootings and the impact that it has on the African-American community. And I appreciated that. But likewise, we need to appreciate that respect for life goes across professions, across races, creeds, and I'd like to see LeBron James step up to the plate and double that."

LeBron James and the Lakers are currently waiting to see who they will face in the West Conference Finals.

Vanessa Bryant spoke out Monday morning biting back at Villanueva after his request to James arguing that the department can't be trusted. Bryant is currently suing the Los Angeles County Sheriff's department for leaked photos of her late husband Kobe after a tragic helicopter crash.
