San Bernardino County hospitals have reported two acute pulmonary injury (or lung injury) cases associated with vaping. Vaping refers to the increasingly popular practice of inhaling vapor from an e-cigarette device, which works by heating a liquid that can contain nicotine, marijuana or other drugs.

Over 380 cases of lung illness and six deaths associated with the use of e-cigarette products have been reported nationwide

Dr. Erin Gustafson, the new medical director at San Bernardino County Department of Public Health came on the program to talk about some of the problems arising from vaping and e-cigarette use.

Dr. Gustafson recommends that individuals using e-cigarette products not buy products from unlicensed vendors and should not modify e-cigarette products or add any substances to these products that are not intended by the manufacturer.
