The annual Mission Inn Hotel & Spa Festival of Lights will go on, despite the pandemic, as a scaled-back version was approved by the Riverside City Council on Tuesday.

This year will be the 28th year for the Festival of Lights, held over 5-weeks beginning the day after Thanksgiving thru early January.

According to The Press Enterprise, the City voted unanimously to hold the highly-attended event, but with restrictions.

There will be no official switch-on ceremony, no vendors lining the streets of downtown Riverside, no fireworks ceremony, and no live entertainment.  Basically, the decorations will be up for people to enjoy, but large crowds will have no reason to hang out with the exclusion of the above features of the event in years' past.

The Mission Inn Festival of Lights was voted as the #1 "Best Public Holiday Lights Display" by readers of USA Today in 2018.
