Mass Shooting At Thousand Oaks Bar On "College Country Night"

Multiple fatalities after been reported after a gunman opened fire in Borderline Bar and Grill in Thousand Oaks, Ca. 

According to The New York Times, the gunman entered the bar around 11:00p and opened fire on the security guard near the front door. 

Among the victims, 11 were bar patrons and/or employees and 1 was a responding Ventura County Sheriff Sergeant. 

Sergeant Ron Helus was responding to the shooting and was shot upon entering the bar. He died from his injuries. 

Sheriff Dean of the Ventura County Sheriffs said, “He died a hero because he went, he went in to save lives, to save other people’s lives" of Sergeant Helus. 

Pepperdine University tweeted about their students being at the bar for "College Country Night".

The gunman is dead. 

UPDATE: The gunman has been identified as Ian David Long (28).
