Globally there has been push to remove racial stereotypes and as a result Disneyland and Disney World are making a change to a popular ride.

The inspiration for the ride Splash Mountain was the movie "Song of the South". Wikipedia describes the 1946 movie: "The film takes place in the southern United States during the Reconstruction era, a period of American history after the end of the American Civil War and the abolition of slavery."

An online petition was created to change the theme of the ride to Princess Tiana, Disney's first black princess. Princess Tiana's is the main character in Disney's movie "The Princess and The Frog".

According to USA Today, Disney claims they've been working to change Splash Mountain's theme for over and year. They did announce that "The Princess and The Frog" will be the new theme. No changes have been made to the ride as of yet.
