"This Is Us" star Chrissy Metz is expanding her artistic endeavors into country music!

The actress who plays Kate Pearson in the popular NBC drama has been signed with Universal Music Group Nashville (home to Carrie Underwood, Eric Church, Keith Urban, Chris Stapleton, Dierks Bentley, and many others), and has already begun working on her debut country album, which is set to drop later this year.

UMG Nashville first worked with the actress / singer on the soundtrack to the movie "Breakthrough," which featured her performance of "I'm Standing with You," which earned an Oscar nomination, and which she performed with Carrie Underwood, Lauren Alaina, Maddie & Tae, and Mickey Guyton at the Academy of Country Music Awards in April.

“To say I am excited to fulfill a lifelong dream is an understatement,” shares Metz in a statement from the label.  “Music has always been my first love, and to be working alongside the incomparable team at UMG is truly a gift!”

“Chrissy Metz is simply tapped into America’s emotional conscience,” explains Cindy Mabe, President, Universal Music Group Nashville. “Music was her first love and no matter if she’s singing, acting, writing or just being, she’s always real, powerful and fully connected with her audience. I can’t wait to put her musical story into the world and I’m so inspired to bring her into the Universal Music Group Nashville family.”
