The recent rainstorms have brought a super bloom of flowers to California, but also a traffic nightmare for motorists on the 15 as people stop on the shoulder to get out of their cars to take a better look at the plethora of poppies along the hillside.

In response to this "Poppy Apocalypse," Lake Elsinore Mayor Steve Manos is making arrangements for traffic control and shuttles around the area for the weekend, in anticipation of increased traffic.

Shuttles will run from 8am to 8pm from the Lake Elsinore Outlets to Walker Canyon, at a cost of $5 per person. Animals will not be permitted on the shuttles.

In addition, flaggers will be assigned to Nichols Road and Lake Street to assist with parking and traffic control.

The mayor is also urging people to avoid the area if possible, and to allow extra time for travel.
