According to the National Science Board’s 2020 State of U.S. Science and Engineering report released in January 2020, the United States, once an uncontested global leader in science and technology, is now playing a less dominant role in many areas.

Arthur Lupia, Assistant Director at the National Science Foundation and Beethika Kahn also from the National Science Foundation, came on the program to talk about the 2020 report that details an increase in worldwide science and engineering (S&E) activity.
